Higgs Beach

My favorite thing about Higgs Beach is watching the ongoing volleyball games that seem to spring up from nowhere. I'm not sure what the rules are about playing, but it looks like anyone can join in. I also like that it's adjacent to one of my favorite restaurants, Salute. Higgs has chairs, umbrellas, etc. for rent, as well as public rest rooms. Higgs is also one of the most popular beaches for Key West's homeless population who tend to congregate at the picnic tables by the parking lot. It is not unsafe by any means, but it's good to be aware of your surroundings. Higgs Beach is close to so many fun things to do, it makes good sense to include this as one your beach stop.
