Fort "Zach" has it all: a beautiful, although slightly rocky beach, a fascinating historic fort where you can take an informative self-guided tour, a fun nature trail where you can see lots of native trees and plants, all with beautiful ocean views. Fort Zach is a state park, so has all the amenities (snack bar, clean rest rooms, grills and picnic tables) and is a great place to spend an afternoon, or even all day.
There are beautiful sunset views from here too, but be aware, the park closes at sundown, so you can't stay for the afterglow.
One of my favorite places to relax, unwind and unplug.
